12 STRANGE BUT TRUE FACTS ABOUT CHRISTMAS


1) Santa Claus is not father Christmas nor is he Jesus father.

2) Santa is not even mentioned in the Bible. But he is certainly a jolly good fellow bearing gifts.

3) The actual date of birth is still a point of contention, but let's leave it to historians and archeologist while the world celebrates.

4) Christmas is about the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ.
Whom the angels announced He will bring 'Joy to the world' but its conditional.

5) Wise man from the East brought three types of gifts not just 3 men.

6) They got lost, visited the palace not manger ending up in a house where the child Jesus is in which is rather late for a birthday celebration.

7) Christ was born to die for the sin of the world. Not exactly something you tell a child about life's purpose.

8) There is no Christmas tree in the Bible, but the cross, He was crucified on was called a 'tree' twice.

9) Christians celebrate His death  more than birth and weekly or monthly remember His death in a ritual call Breaking of Bread or Communion.

10) Muslims love Jesus too, and consider Him their greatest prophet.

11) I wonder if we stay true to  birthday celebrations for Jesus Christ and remove the gatecrasher Santa Claus and flashy accessories like Christmas trees would Christmas still be Christmas?

12) While the spirit of giving has been commercialised it was meant to show the greatest gift of all described in the Bible and profess by Christians.

'For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.'
